What is the Student Production Team
Students in the Student Production Team work with the Schools Spectacular Production Team and industry professionals to assist with the bump in, bump out, management and coordination of all of the elements of the show.
We are running two learning opportunities for students. Students can choose to nominate to be a part of the specialist program or the generalist program.
The specialist program will allow students to be partnered exclusively with an industry professional to work on a particular element of the show, for example lighting, audio etc. This program is only for students currently studying VET Entertainment.
The generalist program will allow students to have the opportunity to experience several aspects of the event.
Students studying VET Entertainment can complete their mandatory work placement hours by being a member of the Student Production Team.
Please note: This category is open to students in Years 10-12 in NSW Public Schools. Students can apply for this category even if they are not completing the VET Entertainment course.
Student Production Team Specialist Program
Exceptional students studying VET Entertainment have the opportunity to work in specialist positions with professional industry partners in the Schools Spectacular. These high profile positions are targeted to students who are passionate about pursuing careers in the entertainment industry and who have displayed exceptional skills, commitment and dedication to their studies throughout their schooling.
Preference may be given to year 12 students. An interview process may be required and all students will need to complete a work placement diary.
Students wishing to apply for this opportunity should have an advanced skill set with the demonstrated ability to work independently, under pressure and as part of a team.
These positions will require students to attend the First Combined Rehearsal on Monday 31 October 2022. Students may also need to complete a pre-show visit and/or training with their industry company in November prior to the Schools Spectacular.
Students will need to be available from Sunday 13 November 2022 until Sunday 27 November 2022 inclusive and be aware that early mornings and late nights may be required. Adequate breaks will be provided.

Venue – Box office, front of house (FOH) and security
All positions will be dependent on teacher endorsement and are subject to consideration by a panel of experts in the field.
Student Production Team Generalist Program
These positions are open to students Years 10-12 who are motivated and highly reliable. Students wishing to apply for this opportunity should have a solid skill set with demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
Students will gain practical experience as an active participant of a diverse and experienced team. The team will comprise of industry professionals and NSW Department of Education staff.
This opportunity creates a valuable and authentic work environment for students to gain knowledge about the management of large scale events. All students will need to complete a work placement diary.
Students will be required to work the full designated hours of the event which may include early mornings and late evenings.
There will be a range of opportunities to work in areas of stage management and production such as:
Assisting with staging directions
Being a part of the team to deliver outstanding customer service to schools and the general public
Cast movement coordination
Opportunity to assist with the set up of cameras and operation of filming and live streaming equipment
Opportunity to move props and staging on and off the performance floor
Opportunity to observe and assist with the sound or lighting set up and operation
Opportunity to observe the broadcasting operation
Setting up and removing directional signage
Supporting the audio team with microphone and in ears distribution
Supporting the holding room team with student cast movement
Ushering
Working with the audio team to gain an understanding of communication maintenance and distribution

You will be contacted by email if you are required to attend an online interview. Only selected students will need to complete an online interview. This is a learning opportunity to practice your interview skills.

Please note: Students will be notified of exact details and dates, if successful, based on the role they are allocated.
COST
There will be a small cost of up to $80 per student to cover the cost of uniform and stage management course materials.
The cost per student will be direct debited from your school. Students will pay their school directly once they have has been notified of their acceptance into the show.
